Career Paper March 20, 2008
My career choice is to be a pharmacist. Pharmacists prepare medicines for patients, supervise their technicians, and provide helpful information to the patients about their prescription.
There is a lot of education needed to become a pharmacist. If you choose any kind of career in the health field, they recommend to take many math and science classes. Most schools require students to have 2 years of pre pharmacy, including the completion of prerequisite math and science courses. Once you receive acceptance into a pharmacy school, you start a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, which takes about 4 years to complete.
There are three levels on the pharmacist career path, with different earnings. The first level is a Pharmacy Intern, who earns around $10 to $14 and hour. They are required to have completed 2 years of a pharmacy program. Their responsibilities are to provide information to patients about their medication, maintain records on all drugs, and prepare and dispense medication under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The second level is a Staff Pharmacist, who earns roughly $60,000 to $90,000 a year. They are required to have completed a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD). Their responsibilities are to counsel patients, communicate with physicians, nurses, and other health care professions, perform some administrative duty, and fill prescriptions. The third level is a Pharmacy Manager, who earns $75,000 to $110,000 a year. They are required to have completed several years as a pharmacist, and possibly had some business or management training.
There are a many jobs that are related to a pharmacist. These jobs include: Anesthesiologist, Chemist, Doctor, Medical Lab Tech, Microbiologist, Naturopath, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Nurse Practitioner, Pharmacologist, Pharmacy Technician, and a Technical Sales Representative.
Through reading these articles, I learned about the third level of the career path of becoming a pharmacist.
You have to go through a lot of hard work to become a pharmacist, but it’s worth it and it pays off in the end.

Today I learned how to take a file and transfer it to powerpoint. All I had to do was download it from the website, save it to my desktop, and then open a blank powerpoint and transfer the document to my current powerpoint. I also learned how to customize a design template and not just use the slide designs on the palette to the right of the screen. I learned how to select more than one title and apple a color scheme to it. All you have to do is hold down shift and pick whatever color you wish to use. Another thing I learned today was how to change the layout of a slide. For the most part that is basically everything I learned from today's two assignments.

Today I learned how to create a presentation using a design template, which is a file that contains the preprogrammed formatting available for a presentation. Desisgn templates can be applied to one slide or several slides, or whatever you choose to do. Design templates make it verey easy for the person producing the powerpoint because it's quick and easy, and it also makes the presentation look nicer. I also learned what a slide layout is, which is a particular combination of placeholders for text and/or graphical elements. I also learned what a color scheme is, and it consists of the eight colors used in the design of the slide. That basically sums up what I learned in today's book work.

Today I learned mainly how to create hyperlinks. You can't view the hyperlink in normal view, but you can view the hyperlink when your viewing your complete slide show. To make a few words hyperlinks, all you have to do is go up to insert on the standard toolbar and click on hyperlink, and then click whatever slide number you wish to add a hyperlink to. I also learned that you can make a presentation longer by linking slides together from another presentation and then going back to the main presentation. Hyperlinks can be very useful in presentations for the people making them, and very helpful to the people viewing the presentation.

January 14&15, 2008 summaries & Pg. 494 & Pg. 498

Today I learned all about how subtitles work in powerpoints. I learned what an indent level is, which is a number that indicates the indent and importance of the subtitle in relation to the title. I also learned how to move a subtitle to the the next higher level, and all you have to do is promote it, which means you decrease the indent and increase the type size. I also learned how to demote text to a lower level, which all you have to do is increase the indent and reduce the type size. I learned a few different ways to change the indent levels which are: click a subtitle on the outline tab and press tab to decrease/increase the indent, and to change all the indentions of all the subtitles you just drag the ruler to your desired indentation.

In this powerpoint I learned how to manipulate slides. I added titles and text to the different placeholders and I also learned how to delete many slides at one time. To do this you just simply click on the first slide you want to delete and hold down shift ad click on the rest of the slides that you wish to delete, and they will delete all at one time. Different ways to add a slide is by decreasing the indent to promote a subtitle, and another way is to click on new slide in the standard toolbar. There are also several different ways to delete a slide, which are: select a slide icon and press delete or go up to the standard toolbar and click on delete up there.
